We have all been there, when our family and friends also tell us that we should get small sewing kits in case of emergency. We think to ourselves, "Is this actually important?" I'm going to tell you that is and here's why.
Sewing kits are often over looked and you may think, "That is unnecessary money being spent." Well, so is spending another $40 on a ripped jacket or $10 on another set of leggings for the tenth time.
Having a sewing kit will help you in emergencies, literally. We have all had that shirt that has a mysterious hole in the arm-pit or the often occurrence of a hole in the crotch of our leggings. Taking your sewing kit, in about 5 minutes, will have those cute items of yours back to new.
Now, I know what you're thinking. What even goes into a sewing kit? It's very simple.
Basic Sewing Kit
Sewing Scissors
Pins/Needles
Push Cushion
Measuring Tape
Thread
Seam-Ripper
This is something very basic that will get most jobs done. If you are considering do more advanced sewing (by hand or machine) there are going to be a few more items needed even for the basics, we will save that for another time.
Even with these few items you can create a lot of great things depending on your available time, while saving money on the clothing that you otherwise would have thrown away. All of these items are available at any craft store or most grocery stores.
Lastly, You can always purchase basic sewing kits online and in store which can save some time. At the end of the day, you will save more money grabbing a sewing kit than buying other pair of leggings for the 10th time.
